China reportedly tightens scrutiny of humanoid-robot IPOs

Chinese regulators informally asked investment banks to scrutinize humanoid-robot IPO candidates more closely after Unitree’s volatile debut, Reuters reported, relaying The Information. The reported criteria included recurring revenue, narrowing losses and evidence of innovation. The regulator did not publicly confirm the guidance in that account.

A working robot and a repeatable business require different evidence. Commercial deployments, repeat orders and service income reveal more about durable demand than pilot demonstrations alone. Installed machines also bring maintenance and support obligations, which can grow even before the manufacturer becomes profitable.
