China reportedly begins producing domestic immersion DUV equipment

China had begun producing domestic immersion deep-ultraviolet lithography equipment, with deliveries expected to customers including SMIC, Hua Hong and CXMT, Reuters reported, citing The Information.

The report concerns DUV, not a domestic EUV breakthrough. It also does not establish competitive high-volume chip yields.

Factory acceptance, throughput, reliability and servicing will determine how useful the equipment becomes after delivery. A second domestic supply route can have strategic value before matching the leading supplier’s economics, but those are distinct achievements.
