Anthropic reportedly plans enhanced founder voting rights for an IPO
Anthropic was preparing special founder shares with enhanced voting rights ahead of an IPO, Reuters reported, citing The Information. Its public-benefit trust would retain a separate share class associated with appointing a board majority. The arrangements were still being developed.
Economic ownership, shareholder voting power and board appointments do not necessarily move together. Public investors could own a substantial financial stake without equivalent authority over strategy.
The eventual charter, appointment rules and any sunset provisions will determine how those powers interact when founders, the trust and other shareholders disagree. The reported plans are an early indication, not a substitute for the final documents.
